Buyer’s Picks – Parvez Taj

I have come to realize that the sense of personality about a room is determined by the culmination of individual pieces of a space’s interior decoration.  However, as a buyer looking for the perfect pieces for my space, I’ve found that nothing speaks more clearly in a room than the wall pieces chosen.

Some of my favorite wall pieces featured on Hautelook have been the powerful photography and collage work of the talented Canadian artist Parvez Taj, whose work has appeared on materials from one end of the spectrum to the other: traditional canvas, distressed and reclaimed wood, and ultra-mod aluminum.

But here’s something new onto the scene that I haven’t seen before!

I don’t know about you, but I have had several instances of internal conflict about whether the best piece that would do my empty wall justice would be a mirror piece or a wall art.  Mirrors open up any space and create a powerful sense of depth, while the image of art or photography can have an admirably unsurpassable craftsmanship.

But now, I can have the best of both worlds!

Printed directly on the glass, these works give a new feel to Parvez’s collection of work, enhancing the modern feel of his unique style. A pioneer of the technique, Taj’s artistic skill of color matching to the original image and printing with eco-friendly and fade-resistant inks is true artistry. I can either see my reflection, or choose to step away and admire the art.  Either way I am in awe ;).
